I consider myself to be a super positive person but something important that I have learned is that as positive people, we need to accept all of our feelings including the heavy emotions. There is so much self compassion in that. Once we acknowledge those feelings we can really take care of ourselves.
There were times in my life where I was shut down from expressing my heavy emotions because the people around me felt uncomfortable. It is up to those of us who are emotionally aware to teach others, not through our words, but through our actions.
We need to accept our heavy emotions as equally important as the positive ones.
Take care of your suffering, pay attention to your feelings and thoughts,. Many of my clients express to me that they feel disrespected by their own parents because they tend to belittle or minimize their feelings of sadness. It is all right to speak up for yourself, that is called self-advocacy. Know that it's alright for you to stand up for yourself first with grace and compassion, and then do so for others.
